Pretty crappy day today. They can’t all be knockouts, right?
I woke up at 5AM with a splitting headache and very nauseous. Visions of the overly-mayonnaised street chapati flashing before my eyes. It felt like a terrible hangover, except that I hadn’t had a drink.
Nick took Millie to breakfast while I lay in bed in silence. I felt shivery and took my temperature and confirmed a fever. Some sort of bug I guess. I drank some coffee and took DayQuil and started to come back to life.
We packed up our bags and said goodbye to the couple who own the bnb. We then took our bags through the hot cobblestone streets to the taxi that would drive us 2+ hours south to Monastir. I was struggling. Sitting still while flying down the highway with windows open helped.

We arrived at the beach resort, which feels like a different world compared to where we’ve come from. We booked in here thinking we might want a chill few days after a lot of city time. Inside this hotel, we could be anywhere.
We got here at noon and checkin wasn’t until 3. In reality our room wasn’t ready until 4. I sat on a bench in the lobby feeling miserable while Nick attempted to entertain Millie, who apparently drove him crazy by sticking to each activity for about 5 minutes before complaining and wanting to do something else.

I gave him a break and took her to check out the kid’s club which offers child care and activities. Normally I wouldn’t utilize this but I think we all need a break from each other. She is excited to get “dropped off by my own to make some friends” tomorrow.

Once we were finally in our room we changed and headed down for dinner. I could barely eat and started feeling worse so headed back to the room. Nick and Millie went on a romantic walk down the beach while I went in and out of feverish sleep.
I am hoping tomorrow is better and no one else gets my mystery illness.
