We started our morning by venturing out on the metro to visit a large, indoor kids play area. Unfortunately when we arrived they were closed and very much under construction. So far in Portugal every location has been the opposite of what Google tells us: closed if it says open, open if it says closed.

Luckily there was another smaller one down the street and Millie and I spent an hour playing while Nick did some trip planning in the lobby. After jumping we rode the metro back to our friend’s apartment and got ready to head out to the beach.
We took an Uber to Piscina das Marés which are pools and a beach in one. Millie happily played in the sand building castles with our friends’ 10-year-old. The water was cold but it didn’t stop them from trying.

The parents slowly migrated away from the kids and towards the cafe, where we had delicious Portuguese wine.

From here we headed back to the apartment to get ready for dinner. Our friends organized a babysitter for the girls and Millie literally pushed me out of the door, she was so excited for a break from us.
We had dinner in Gaia on the other side of the river, with an incredible view of Porto. It was a real treat to have a leisurely adult dinner.
