This will probably be a shorter post since I was off my phone most of the day, so no photos! We slept in again (still on Turkey time) and took an Uber over to Atlantis.
Everything is luxury in Dubai… even an UberX , which is the entry level Uber.

The waterpark we were visiting was on the tip of the island that looks like this:

Roughly every hour today I had the thought “We are on a manmade sand island in the shape of a palm tree. This is not normal”.”
We forgot Millie’s goggles and got her new ones at a great expense. Luckily she was obsessed with them and spent most of the day telling me how happy she was with her new suit and new goggles. I never expected this part of being a mother to a girl, because I’ve never really reveled in clothing or accessories. But it brings me so much joy when she feels confident and excited by what she is wearing.

We spent the day on the lazy river (including going through the rapids) and on the small-to-medium sized water slides. In the late afternoon Millie made a little British friend who was either named Pippa or Pepper. We will never know. Millie calls British accents “granny’s language” – as in “Pepper(?) speaks Granny’s language”. The two of them were the exact same size and rode down all the slides together for over an hour.
I’m happy to report we reapplied sunscreen enough times that after a full day in the sun we escaped without burns.
When the sun and heat were at their absolute peek we broke away for about an hour to visit the Aquarium in the hotel. It was quite small but did the trick to entertain us and provide AC when we needed it.

We stayed until closing time and then went to a bar-restaurant in the Atlantis resort. We could have been in Vegas, or Miami, or really anywhere. We had a beer, Millie had a mango juice, and then we Ubered back to our Airbnb.
