We had another admin morning today, though unplanned this time. We realized last minute (less than 24 hours before our flight) that we need visas for Kenya and neglected to get them. I visited about 10 years ago and was able to get one upon arrival so assumed it would be the same still. Well, you know what happens when you assume…
We’ve now applied online but there’s no guarantee that they’ll be approved by tomorrow. This is extra complicated because we are being tricky with our flights and “skip lagging”. We bought tickets to Uganda with a layover in Nairobi because they were cheaper than flying direct to Nairobi. Our plan is to not get on the second flight. But Uganda also requires a visa so now we’re worried we won’t be allowed on any flight at all. Stay tuned.
Other than stressing about visas and flights, we spent the morning cleaning up and packing. Millie loves being helpful and being assigned “jobs” so she did dishes, folded towels, and made the beds. Thank you Montessori school.

At around Noon we finally left and headed back to the waterpark. They have a promotion going where you get two days for the price of one, so we took advantage of our free bonus day. We set up in an entirely different wing of the giant park, so it felt brand new.
Millie is getting really confident and riding bigger and bigger slides. I love waterslides so I happily went with her. Nick loves the lazy river, so he did that with her. We went to the private beach that is attached to the park and the sea was as warm as bath water.

Everywhere we go, Nick uses his plant and animal identification app to learn about the living things around us, even in water parks. Never change, weirdo.

We went to the same resort restaurant as two nights ago because Millie was desperate to play on the large “soft play” area within the restaurant. She has had two nonstarters in a row with these things now – at this one she didn’t have socks and yesterday was the food court meltdown. So today was supposed to be the redeeming play time. Unfortunately she was a couple of centimeters too short for their height limit. She was very disappointed, as was I. After some tears a mango juice cheered her up.
She made me laugh and cringe in the bathroom. As she came out of the stall she proudly said “I have to wash my hands really well with soap so I don’t get sick!” We have been making a big deal of hygiene as we travel so I said “yes you do!” She got a bunch of soap lathered up on her hands and then turned on the face level faucet with her mouth. So close, yet so.. gross.

Now we pack and freak out about tomorrow’s flight and try to get an early night so we can get to the airport extra early. Wish us luck.
