Day 168: Recharge day in Yangshuo

We—me especially—had the most blissfully boring day today. There was something scratching around in the walls of our hotel last night and it kept me up most of the night, so I woke up exhausted. And I think I’m just generally wiped from the go go go nature of the last couple of days.

So after a big breakfast, Nick and Millie watched a movie and I fell asleep. When I woke up it was afternoon (!) and they were down at the pool together. They didn’t return to our room until 4pm, so I had almost a full day alone, doing absolutely nothing. It was so needed.

Once they were back we took showers and returned to the craft beer bar we went to a couple of days ago. The food was great and comforting. Nick and I got veggie burgers and Millie got her beloved pizza. We played a game where we try to draw stuff with our eyes closed.

We hung out here for a while and then walked back to the hotel. I walked slowly behind while Millie and Nick chased after each other. It was very sweet and I had my moment of gratitude for them leaving me the F alone all day, even on this walk.

I read Babysitters Club comics aloud for about an hour and then got Millie to bed before 8. She calls days like this “hangout days”. They are boring by design.
