I fear this Shanghai section of our trip will be so boring, but I’m writing the post for posterity.
We woke up still feeling full of all our carbs and meat, so we skipped breakfast. Even Millie just ate an apple and then didn’t seem hungry for much else. I gave her some very fancy hair. Never thought I’d be a mom who does hair like this, but I really enjoy it.

We then went to the play center, Neobio, again. Gotta get our money’s worth. Millie and Nick played a bit while I used their WiFi and researched some things to do along our next stop. She once again got fancy face paint and ate lunch in their overpriced cafe.

Nick and I switched out and she spent a solid hour in her own world (with me playing a minor role) pretending to be a vet.

We realized we were next to Yu Garden so went to see that when she was done playing. It was touristy and packed with people, but pretty.

After this we walked along the Yu Garden food road. We stopped at a gelato place for ice cream Friday and noticed they had tuna ice cream. We assumed it was a bad translation of something else so we requested a sample to figure it out. Nope, it was in fact fishy tuna ice cream. It was as awful as it sounds, maybe even worse.

Millie opted for chocolate.

We stopped at a craft beer tent and enjoyed the people watching while Millie finished her ice cream.
At this point Nick and I had barely eaten but couldn’t do any more meat and carbs. We’ve struggled to find a grocery store with western food so I did some research on my phone and we took the metro to one.

We stocked up on good coffee, high fiber cereals, fruit, meat, and cheese. It was out of the way and very overpriced, but our bodies are asking for it.
On our way home Millie stopped to dance with the old couples in the park. I love love love the senior citizen park culture of China. Whether it’s tai chi in the mornings, hanging out with grandchildren, eating snacks, or dancing at night… Chinese seniors live it up in public parks.

When we got home I made us all picnic style snack dinners. We all had seconds and then thirds. It has been so long since we’ve eaten anything crunchy.

We ate outside on the tiny enclosed patio attached to our apartment. Tomorrow we are expecting rain all day long.
