Day 213: Nakanoshima Museum of Art & Science Museum

Nick woke me up in the middle of the night to ask for cough drops. We thought he had managed to avoid the sickness but apparently not. He was hit with the first symptom that the rest of us had: throat knives.

This morning we were both tired and took a while to get moving. We all ate breakfast and hung out at the Airbnb until Noon, at which point Millie, my parents, and I headed out. Nick stayed in to rest up.

We stopped at the same playground as yesterday and Millie (and then my dad) enjoyed going down the big weird slide.

We moved on and took the train to the museum. We stopped to celebrate Ice Cream Friday on the way.

Nick once heard someone describe Osaka as “the Chicago of Japan” and I’ve thought of it every day since we’ve been here. It has a similar soul, and as we were walking to the museum after our ice creams, it even looked just like Chicago.

We got tickets to the exhibit commemorating 100 years of art deco. I loved the design on many of the posters they had in the exhibit. Made me remember why I fell in love with graphic design before I sold my soul to make money doing product design.

Millie spent the whole time on benches drawing, as she does.

After this museum, we split off to go to the two neighboring museums. My parents went to the national museum of art, and Millie and I went to the science museum. The kid loves a science museum because she can touch things. We had fun with everything.

We met up with my parents again and rode the train back to our Airbnb.

We rested briefly and then walked out to a nearby ramen restaurant. It was garlicky and rich, perfect for a cool evening. Millie is getting really good at slurping.

Last day all together tomorrow. 😢
