I was once again up most of the night coughing my brains out. It’s getting old now, and I feel bad for Nick who also gets woken up by me. My throat and head continued to hurt all morning.
We were craving protein for breakfast and walked 20 minutes to a place where we could get some eggs. After breakfast we went to a pharmacy where the pharmacist asked me rapidfire questions about my symptoms and then laid out 10 different potential options for me. I left with various pills and potions and took my first dose when we got home. I think they helped but it didn’t stop me from falling asleep at 10AM.
Nick realized I was still in pretty bad shape and took over with Millie. They played and then decided to head out to an indoor play place about 25 minutes away. I woke up right as they were on their way out of the door.
They have spent so much time together while I’ve been infirmed over the last few days that they have a new suite of inside jokes and she has started requesting that he take her to the bathroom instead of me. I can’t say I mind it.
He took these pictures of her playing. He reported they had a great time and she was well behaved.

Meanwhile I lay in bed and did nothing. The medicine started to work and I finally started to feel a bit better. At 5 we met up in the Old Quarter for our evening food tour. We booked this a couple of days ago as a fun and memorable Thanksgiving.
We were the only ones to sign up for this tour so it was just us and the guide. It was fun but I missed the fun of doing a debrief about all the other tourists with Nick after. When we have done other food tours, we’ve always been paired up with characters.
We had many stops, and I have forgotten the names of what we had. We started with crispy little spring roll wraps.

Then had banh mi sandwiches.

Then fertilized duck eggs (!), which is a hard boiled egg with a half-developed chick in it. Sounds horrific but really just tasted like what it sounds like, a hard boiled egg with chicken meat. I couldn’t bring myself to eat a whole one but tried Nick’s. He had seconds.

We had shrimp and mushroom dumplings in a rice dough.

And then some glass noodles and chicken.

I was stuffed. Nick was even more stuffed because he ate most of Millie’s portions. She barely ate anything.
We had coconut ice cream on sticky rice with fresh mango. This one she did eat.

And as a final course, egg coffee. We ordered hot chocolate for Millie but they gave her coffee. Halfway through she said “uh I think this is coffee”.

We walked home, very stuffed, and very thankful.
