Day 237: Fly to Siem Reap

Standard transit day today. We packed up our Airbnb, which was somehow next-level messy. At home we are very clean and tidy people but on this trip we are heathens. I’m not sure what happened.

We checked out at Noon and left our bags in baggage storage. We walked a few blocks to the nearby mall to kill a couple of hours at the play center there. This is different from the one yesterday but was equally grand. Millie happily played for almost two hours and was sad when we had to leave.

We walked back to the condo and called a Grab taxi to take us to the airport. Our flight was delayed an hour but we didn’t trust it so we showed up at the planned departure time just in case. We got through and ate mediocre sandwiches at the gate.

We boarded our first flight to Bangkok, where we had a ~2 hour layover. Luckily (?) the second flight was also delayed so we didn’t need to rush. We stopped for a quick airport dinner.

Good (maybe) news… Nick figured out what was wrong with Millie’s camera and got it working again. She took plenty of photos of every little thing she saw.

At our gate we were surrounded by Buddhist monks. Every single one of them were staring at their phones. If those who have dedicated their life to mindfulness are addicted to scrolling, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Our second flight was short and we landed in Siem Reap at 9:30. Millie was tired and grumpy when we finally got in a taxi at 10. We decided not to fight it and let her watch her iPad and eat pringles for the hourlong ride into downtown. She was crunching loudly and I felt bad about having a rude kid, but we arrived without any meltdowns. She finally got to bed at 11:15.
