Our flight was at 12:40 so I expected a very leisurely morning. We slept in until 9 and then made our way to breakfast.
We noticed on day 1 at this hotel that there was a serve yourself ice cream bar as part of the breakfast buffet, but we didn’t mention it to Millie and she knew the answer would be “no” so she didn’t think to ask. But last night we agreed, on our last morning we’d let her have at it. I casually served myself a scoop and told her she couldn’t have any because it wasn’t Friday. She believed me for a second but then knew it was her lucky day. She had a 3-scoop cone with sprinkles and a marshmallow, laughing the whole time. She couldn’t believe her luck.

We were done at 10 and asked the front desk what time we should get the shuttle for our 12:45 flight. They told us this flight always takes off early (wtf) and we should be ready to go in 30 minutes. Our leisurely morning quickly turned chaotic as we ran around packing and showering and brushing crazy hair (see above).
We made it and the flight did in fact take off a full 45 minutes before schedule. I guess if everyone is there, why not? Just like our flight in, it was pretty empty.

We flew over beautiful blue sea, dotted with sand bars and little islands. I am about halfway through my book, which is all about the ocean. Everything matched.
We landed and took an easy car to our Airbnb. Millie played for a while. Then we walked across the street to the mall to go shoe shopping. She hadn’t worn her sneakers for about 6 weeks and when she put them on for our jungle hikes, they were suddenly too small. My sneakers still fit but are very worn down after being my primary shoes for 8 months and a lot of walking.
We both struck out. Every pair we liked was sold out in our sizes. And since these are our only pair of sneakers for the foreseeable future, we are extra picky.

These are the unicorn monstrosities she reallllly wanted. They were sold out.

We came back and had a simple dinner at the restaurant downstairs. Millie finished her whole serving of spaghetti bolognese. This dish is slowly pushing out pizza as her favorite dinner.

Nick and I shared Chicken Rendang, which is my favorite Malaysian dish. Adding to list of things to cook at home.
We came back, did laundry, and are having an early night. Boring day!
