Millie woke up feeling 75% better. Still not quite there but well enough that we could get on our flight. We packed up rode through the trafficky streets to the airport. Even though we barely saw Manila I can’t say I loved it. I’ll stop writing my impressions so I don’t get banned from the whole country like Claire Danes.

Our flight was delayed by over an hour while they changed the tire, but then we were on our way. We landed at the small Puerto Princesa airport. Millie was on the edge of a meltdown, due to residual sickness and tiredness. Away one point she grabbed me in terror and started yelling “what are those people over there?!” I didn’t know what to expect when I looked over and was greeted with the most terrifying airport art(?) ever. I can see why she jumped.

We got picked up by our hotel’s shuttle, which drove us another 1.5 hours away. Millie passed out for the whole drive. Thank god, because it was hilly and windy and very nausea-inducing.

We arrived at the resort and I felt relaxed for the first time in a few days. Back to the beach bum lifestyle for a little bit.

We had a late lunch and Millie drank most of a mango smoothie. Even though it wasn’t solid food, this was her first calorie consumption in over 24 hours. Her color and spark started to come back.
We played in the kids’ club for a while, reading books and building with blocks and doing coloring sheets.

Then we put on our bathing suits and went to the pool. The sun started to go down and we had a happy hour drink in the hot tub. Millie and Nick joked around and it felt good to have our silly and energetic kid back.

We came back to the room for an early night. Millie ate two pieces of the pizza she didn’t touch at lunch. We were all in bed by 8pm.
