Day 290: Waiting around in Puerto Princesa

Truly boring day today but I need to keep my streak going, so here’s the corresponding boring post.

Our first flight on our long overnight journey left at 6:20pm, so we had a whole day to kill in Puerto Princesa. Yesterday I researched what we could do in the city and there wasn’t much, so we spent the day at the hotel. Luckily they offered us a late checkout for a small fee.

We slept in and had a late and leisurely breakfast. I took Millie to the hotel pool. Nick read to her until his voice grew hoarse. We made a mess of the room playing various games. She worked on her book until we ran out of paper. We ordered room service.

The hours ticked by until we made it to 4pm. We took a short shuttle to the airport and checked into our flights. Millie got her Friday ice cream and I joined in.

The first flight was a quick jump to Manila. The connection in Manila has been hell. Walking various hallways to transfer areas, waiting in a basement for a shuttle bus to the other side of the airport, having to go through security again, then immigration, and then both again because for some reason Australian flights require it.

Millie is tired and impatient and had her now-routine meltdown in the immigration line. She desperately wanted her good behavior gum but couldn’t hold it together. So she was in the security line yelling “I WANT MY GUM!!!!” But it sounded like she was yelling for her gun. They let us through and she got her undeserved gum.

We’re at the gate now with 2 hours to go until takeoff at midnight. Pray for sleep on our overnight flight.
