We were all up early again due to the Australian early sunrise. They don’t do daylight savings and so it is bright daytime well before 6AM. It’s very disorienting. We had a slow morning. Millie FaceTimed some family and I made a big breakfast.
Eventually we left and drove to the nearby Mooloolaba Beach. In the 10 minutes between leaving our house and arriving at the beach cloud cover came in. As we were stepping onto the sand it started drizzling. Sunshine Coast who?

It passed quickly and in the end we were grateful for the cloud cover. We set up near the lifeguard flags. I have read so many warnings not to swim outside of the recommended flags because of how brutal Aussie riptides can be.
The surf was too strong for us to swim at all, but we had a fun time running around in the shallows, building sandcastles, and playing with the reusable water balloons that we found in our Airbnb.

For most of the day it was bright and sunny on one side, and very gray on the other.

I packed simple PB&Js. Is there anything better than a homemade sandwich on a beach?

When we had enough sun, we drove back home. We took showers. Maybe the post-beach shower is better than the beach sandwich. Then we went back to the grocery store to find something to grill.
Chicken, rice, and broccoli. Cooking simple things for ourselves is such a treat after endless restaurants.

We moved up Sunday movie night since this house has such a great TV and couch set up. Tonight’s pick was Mrs. Doubtfire. We tried it before and Millie wasn’t into it, but she wanted it again. She spent the restaurant scene like this, so stressed out by the situation Mrs. Doubtfire got herself into.
