Millie woke up feeling mostly better, but she still had a low-grade fever and a stomach ache, so we decided to take it easy today to let her fully recover.
We read 2 whole Babysitter’s Club books (we’ve started the whole series over again). She did a little bit of “school” work in her notebook. I encouraged her to sound out writing words instead of asking us to spell things, and she is starting to get the hang of it. She wrote down things she saw around the kitchen: “cop” (cup), “toal” (towel), “bol” (bowl), “plat” (plate), and so on. It’s so exciting to see the wheels turning.

Her appetite was fine and she had moments of normal energy in which she practiced scootering in circles around the garage.

But mostly she just watched TV and movies. So many movies recently. I feel guilty about it but I keep telling myself what I tell myself when I eat nothing but cookies during the holidays: this is but just a little blip in the grand scheme of things and not forever.

By the late afternoon her fever was fading away. I walked 35 minutes to the grocery store to pick up ingredient for dinner, and then back again. It was another rare sunny day today, so I was happy not to spend the entire day inside. I must say, I also enjoyed the alone time.

I made us dinner; tacos for grownups and quesadilla face for Millie. She ate it all and had seconds, so I think it’s safe to say her minor sickness is on its way out the door.

I spent the evening playing around with various AI products and having my mind blown again and again by the technological progress that has happened since I’ve been out of the game in this last year. I made this map of our trip, which also blew my mind. No wonder we feel so tired and excited to get back to a routine at home!
