Day 254: Hanging out in Koh Mak

This is probably going to be a shorter post. I just went back to check my photos and only took two all day!

We had a classic breakfast buffet and got ready for the day. Swimsuits and a thick layer of SPF. Nick set off down the beach and rented a kayak. He took it offshore to a somewhat nearby island nature preserve with good snorkeling. He said plenty of people were in the water and no one seemed too scared of the jelly fish. He said the fish were beautiful. He rode back, got a drink at the magical pier bar, and then returned to meet us at the hotel at about 4.

Photos from him. Sorry about the toes but it’s slim pickings today.

Meanwhile, Millie and I had what she dubbed a “just the girls hangout day”. We swam in the pool, hung out in the room, drew, played babies, swam some more, played on the old exercise equipment as if it was a playground. The usual.

We had a fun time but she was a bit whiny and short tempered all day. When Nick got back she had a full freakout about a fly landing on her, which then evolved into not wanting to go to dinner, not wanting to leave the room, etc. It was a tough afternoon.

We ended up taking a taxi to a place in town. She ate a big bowl of spaghetti and calmed down—maybe it was hanger—and Nick and I shared my new favorite food of full fried fish, rice, and vegetables, all smothered with sweet and sour sauce and fresh herbs.
