Day 372: Nothing in San Pedro de Atacama

Short post because we had a true “do nothing” day today. Our original plan was to drive 1.5 hours south to visit the salt flats. We had our typical slow morning and then just sort of stayed slow. At about 11 I suggested maybe we just skip it and stay home in this great little Airbnb. We have had so many days of hour-plus car rides that none of us wanted to get back in the car.

So, we stayed in. We read books, played cards, did laundry, ate a big brunch and a lot of snacks, had a dance party, did a few pages of the reading workbook, and did a ton of drawing. Our laundry dried in about 5 minutes since it is SO dry and sunny here. I think we finally got the NZ sulfur smell out.

We drank a lot of tea, including this tea made out of literal coca leaves.

Nick, high on cocaine, spent the afternoon hyper focused and sketched out the exterior of our house. He came up with a landscaping plan to tackle when we get home. Millie drew pictures of her dream garden alongside him.

At 5 we went into town to get groceries for dinner. Cooking five meals from this tiny grocery store has been a real challenge. They barely have anything. Tonight I made spaghetti bolognese, and used a frozen pre-cooked hamburger as the ground beef. It did the trick.

Early to bed before an early wake up and long travel day tomorrow.
